The motors are around but often better to buy a completed Mu or Bighorn to get the motor. Wreckers charge a fortune
I cant give a price but one end of the scale is my old bighorn which had a good motor but the body was shot got 1200 from a wrecker the other end is a basic rebuild kit (aftermarket chinese) are about 1500 plus labour to fit (drive in drive out could be another 2k on top of that)
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

About $1500 for an engine. I recently bought a complete Mu for $1800 mainly for the motor.

i had my 4jg2 rebuilt oct 2014 drive in drive out for 4k. And that was the same as the 4jb1. This is cheap in sydney. my brother was quoted 7k drive in drive out a few months before. pays to go quoting. mine was rebuilt by a performance shop that was full of v8 supercharged race engines. http://www.cdaengines.com.au/
Live it, Breathe it, Enjoy it. (What ever the case may be. Bogged, stuck, or spending hours getting someone out)

I just bought a complete Rodeo 4x4 for the 4JB1 and running gear to put it in my 96 Frontera sport and paid $800, then sold the tub, canopy, towbar & bulbar for $850! Bargain!
