key fob

Postby fitzpatrick13 » Sun Jun 27, 2010 9:54 pm

i had to be 20cm from door before central locking keyfob would work. I replaced the battery in the central locking key fob but had a 30 min space before putting new battery in.... Now the fob wont work atall..... even when I put the old battery in at 20cm. Any ideas or help as to what to do next.

What year is your wizard? Is the fob part of an after market alarm? if so make and model?

It is a 1998 wizard and the key has Isuzu on it, so I am assuming that it is original.

2 choices
A try disconnecting the car battery and key battery at the same time. It might reset everything but no guarantees. You also get to reprogramme the radio all over again which can be a pain if it doesnt work
b talk to your local auto sparky. They have tricks they wont tell us about

Usually there is a sequence for the car to learn the new remote (or in your case one that has been forgotten).

Found this on the net...

On my 97:
1: turn ignition on ( don't start )
2: under driver's seat is the control box. To the rear of the box is a hole with a green button ( easier to see from rear passenger floor ). Depress this button with a screwdriver or similar tool until light on dash goes on, then release.
3: press button on remote, light should go out.
for more remotes, repeat from step #2
4: turn ignition off.
5: test

Unfortunately my 1998 Wizard does not have a control box under the seat. I am at my wits end on this one, nobody seems to know how to do it..... I have tried the Isuzu trooper method but this wont work either and I have tried putting key to ACC then pressing lock but this does'nt work either. Can it really be this hard to reprogram a key?????
