Isuzu ON road driving

Postby Jordan63 » Fri Aug 28, 2009 4:39 pm

Hello everyone,

There is so much talk about Isuzu's performing off road. But for many people getting to landcruizer park is a fair drive. So since my mu isnt able to go anywhere until mr mechanic friend fixes it, i was wondering how they perform on the open road, acceleration wise, if it will go over 110 without certain body parts severelly tightening? and will i need an extra set of wheels on the roof in anticipation for sharp corners.

THanks

If you leave the sway bar connected, or make a disconnectable one, then they handle fine. I have removed my sway bar and run my suspension soft, and it still rides fine, just has bad corner roll.
Oh how i miss my mu, the lux is just not the same :(

Just remember your driving a 4x4 not a car, so you cant throw it around corners, and it will take a little more to stop. I dont really go above the legal speed limit but they seem to just chug along at 100km nicely at about 2700revs. I currectly drive my mu each day to work and back and enjoy being up higher then everyone so I can see what going on.
Cheers,
Andrew

A lot of Mus and Bighorns never go off road This is good because it means a ready supply of good cars to replace ours when we smash them up in the bush. They are excellent cruising and towing cars with similar liters per 100km as most 2 liter cars possibly better but remember they aint no sports car. Ive seen 160kph on the clock of the bighorn but really thats not wise. 110 to 120 is good and comfortable
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

We do the better part of 40,000km a year (It's a 2ookm round trip to the supermarket) and it is one of the most comfortable 4x4 vehicles that I have ever driven on the open road, goes exceptional well off road too. As far as fuel econey goes with the roof basket on and the mud tyres we get 100km to 11 litres with the basket empty and 13 with it loaded

I've taken mine round Australia 2 times. once with 33's on and the other with 35's.
half way up the gibb river and back. (busted a 33in tyre big time)
i learnt to alway make sure my radiator has plenty of coolant in a concerntrated mixture :P
other wise i had her up to 130 in the NT, seems to hold the higher rpm fine, but it most comfortable at 100-110, a 10psi (personally)
IFS is made for road handling,
Three things a Co-pilot should say to a Captain:
1. Great landing
2. First round is on me
3. I'll take the ugly one.
