Desiel Mechinic in Sydney

Postby MARKx4 » Sun Sep 27, 2009 5:02 pm

Just a quick question of who do you guys use to do tune ups and work on your isuzu's in sydney? I live in penrith but will travel a moderate distance to go to some one well recomended. Would prefer some one that has access to a dyno to do the tune work.

Mark.

Hi All

I too would also like to know if there are any mechanics in the Sydeny area (I am from the inner-west) that specialise in Isuzu's (particularly the 2.8 diesel).

I haven't seen my Mu for months and hasn't been on the road for about 3 years. It's been to 2 workshops where they are always "still looking at it" (its still at the second one).

Fair enough I don't know what is wrong with it (the old motor died and my mechanic mate put in a new crate motor for me but we couldn't get it to start) but I think mechanics always work on the cars they know whats wrong with first and mine is one of those ones you see at the back of the workshop everytime time you come in a for a service and looks the same last time you saw it.

Sorry MARKx4 for hijacking your thread but I didn't want to start a new one since we kinda after the same thing.

Cheers

There are enough Isuzu brains here if you give us some symptoms we may be able to suggest some things for your "mechanic" to look at.
Cheers,
Andrew

new motor and they can't get it started, unreal,if its getting fuel and air it has to start, simple, thats y I like diesels, there sooooo easy to diagnose,if your not getting fuel find out y, same with air, but 99 times out of 100 its fuel ,if it is getting fuel and air and still won't start then it must be timing, but shouldn't be with a new motor, the're pre run before leaving the factory. did the new motor come with the injection pump and all the other goodies already on???

No I haven't paid anything yet, nor am I going to til my Mu starts.

My motor was brand spanking new out of a crate. Everything else was from my existing Mu. I will admit now that i do not know much about cars at all, let alone diesels so my mate (qualified mechanic) did most of the work (home garage job) and enquires.

I do remember though that because the motor was intended for the later model Rodeos, which had a similar but different type of fuel injector than my 91 Mu. We were given a separate fuel injector from the place I bought the motor and my mate had to put bits and pieces together from my injector and the new one. This was then taken to a diesel injector place to get it serviced properly.

My mate has actually posted on the forum on my behalf quite a while ago (maybe 2 years) and asked questions in which everyone was very helpful (I can't find the thread now). Im sure he tried everything he could but in the end we just gave up.

from 2 years ago the thread will of been on the old forum. Try looking through
http://clubisuzu.proboards.com/index.cgi?
If it needs updating you will need to copy the relevant bits to this forum.
My money is on a diesel pump issue. If you can get the whole car to the diesel injector place I bet its going in a week although it might take a year to pay for

The cost of the new motor and injector pump services have already cost me as much as what I paid for the Mu originally haha... I can laugh about it but I still sometimes cry myself to sleep...

I don't know if its still worth it saving, but if I try to get rid of it I would have wasted way too much money. Plus i loved the thing (while it ran). I would choose it over any of the later model SWB fourby's around.

I'll go with Geeves and almost guarantee its the IP pump, I wouldn't give up yet tho,you have the makings of a good motor, you might as well bite the bullit and get'er done, I never fool with IP's,except to tweek up the fuel a little, otherwise I leave them to the experts,we all have been in the same boat as you one time or a another, I know its happened to me more than once. take it to a good IP shop, cheers,Wayne
