Only legal way to import a Mu to Aus is to live in nz for 2 years while owning one here then take it back as a private import.
The other way is to sneak it in while no ones looking then swap its id (rego chassis number the works) with a crashed one.

If you wanna pay all the costs, its modified too, so that will probably be a big head ache, but if you wanna sort everything out, pay me $3000 and send my winch up when it gets over here then i'm interested.

Mus are on a special list in Aus which means that because Holden used to make an equivalent car (frontera sport with undersized petrol engine) you cant bring one in until 20 years after the last frontera was made. The only way to use this rule is wait till about 2020

its called protectionism. If they were stopping the importing of new cars then you could complain about unfair market practises but with second hand cars there is nought you can do. Its right up there with subsidies to farmers etc.
Even we cant get any more Mus now. The powers that be have imposed euro 4 spec which effectively means nothing older than 2004 in a diesel

About 2 weeks ago the Salvage auction in Brisbane had a fresh water damaged blue MU, it went for about $1900.
From the pictures all the panels were straight and it had done about $230k

About 6 months ago someone sold a mechanically damaged MU for about $800 on ebay.

Currently on carsales.com.au there 4 MUs from $5k to 7.3k
Theres about 5 on ebay as well.

At least you can plan something and its more than likely to be fine over here, where as in nz you can pretty much bet it will rain all day!!!
And you can go swiming in the middle of winter, tan all year round!!!
I do still miss NZ though...
