98 3.1 box fit 92 mu?

Hi guys suspect my 3.1 box is the cause of some aggressive gear-type noise above 80k's and found a gbox from a 98 jackaroo
And I was just wondering if anyone could confirm that this would be the same box?
I have a 92 2.8 mu and bought a 3.1 box a while ago to use the bolt on flange instead of the slip shaft...
