98 isuzu wizard transmission problem

Postby markomuzzikero » Tue Mar 03, 2015 1:59 pm

Hi there!
I'm having a slow/hard transmission problem on my vehicle after changing the ATF and filling it up w/ 6 litters new.
Dipstick reading seems fine but its always bubbly during the first engine start.

What seems to be the problem.
Is it overfilled or something?
How much litters should i put in it after draining atf through drainplug?

By the way its an 4jx1 engine.

Any advice would be so much appreciated.
Thanks and Godbless!

"Dipstick reading seems fine but its always bubbly during the first engine start."
What do you mean bubbly?
Correct way to check fluid level is when cold for an initial reading Start engine with car on a flat surface. Move the gear lever through each gear holding it for 10 seconds or so then place in neutral leaving the car idling. There are 2 marks on the dipstick. Fluid should be at the lower one. Drive the car about 20km and repeat above but now fluid should be at upper mark. Garage changed my fluid and left it a half litre low

What fluid did you use?
Is it Dexron111 or Dexron3 rated?
The colour looks wrong but that could be just the photo

So thats what my dipstick looks like. It has bubbles on it. That's my initial reading for a warm engine on idle.
Is this normal?
The H (hot) level is on the upper 2 dots.

cherry red is good
I cant tell you if those bubbles are normal for sure but cant see it as a real problem. What other bad things is the transmission doing?

Shifting 1-3 gear is quite hard.
Have to step on the gas harder to shift.
And its getting more harder when the engine is hot, Its like loosing lubrication.
