holden Fronterra /isuzu wizard 2001

hi just brought this vehicle but i cant seem to get 4wd to work.
when i push the 4wd button the light just flashs.
when i change the high/low leaver the light flashes faster
any hints or ideas what im doing wrong welcomed

There should be two vacuum operated switches under the skid plate, one with blue and the other with grey electrical connection points. You might need to remove the electrical connectors and clean them to make sure they are not corroded. and check the vacuum hoses to the switches to make sure they are not leaking or cracked. If cleaning does not work, you'll need to replace the switches.

Thats the easiest place to start.
when you operate the 4wd switch this tells an ecu to activate a motor drive in the transfer case which puts the box in 4wd and start the light flashing then sends a voltage to the 2 solinoids on the front diff activating them. These put a vacum on the diaphramme on the diff which activates an internal clutch. When this activates a switch on the diff tells the ecu to make the light steady.
The book takes 2 pages to describe this
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
