Oh dear, I hope they are better quality than they used to be.
What's the interior space like, can anyone bigger than 5 foot tall fit in?
I hope you've got metric and imperial spanners... :)

I do like them, but don't know if I could own one. I have a mate here that has a 02 Cherokee, he's probably spent around the $20k mark (not including the purchase price) getting it up to scratch for 4x4ing, and it's still tiny inside...

Yarn...they are great, interior is massive!! Its the first vehicle my old man has sat in that his head doesnt touch the roof!!

There is not one part that changes over from the TJ to the JK...totally re-engineered. Mine is 5speed auto and Common rail diesel 2.8. 130Kw and 460Nm and solid axles front and rear whoohoo. Dana 30 front (not 44 :( ) and Dana 44 rear (even has cutout in the front lower mount for castor bolts to correct after a lift!!)

The roof comes off in 7 different configurations and then you have the soft top to pull up of it rains. Every aftermarket accessory that you could possibly imagine has already been designed and made for it.

It has 31" tyres and 33s will fit with no mods and 35s will fit with a basic 2"spring lift.

Im not looking for hardcore offroad, more a touring family rig (that I can still mud up) that I can hook the camper to and just go.

They have typical US build quality...most probs are with wiring in the future after good use(corrogations etc) they dont wrap or secure wiring the way the Japs do. So when I get some time I going to wrap and tape and zip all the looms I can find...oh and there are lots.

What other TD Auto Wagon could you purchase for $40K and still be this easy, comfortable and capable as a 4WD??

Gents I most certainly will let you know how it goes.

I have the ARB front and rear bars coming in Jan, so I will fit them along with my Warn 9000 and IPFs or Rally 4000 (havent decided which yet)

Then I am putting in Rancho 9000 adjustable shock and probably OME 2in springs (really about 3-4inch but hopefully 2 with all the extra weight of bars and winch).

Then the 285/70R17 Maxxis Bigborns are going on the origional rims...SWMBO doesnt want me to put the black procomp steelies I want on...doh!

Last big mod will be the AEV snorkle...very tidy and does not intrude into the engine bay like the others and only needs a small cutout in the side of the bonnet as in the pic above.

Bruce....she goes like a scalded cat!!!! Im very impressed and would leave the Rodeo (pretty quick for a Rodeo) and my old Red 3.1 MU (seriously quick) for dead!!

At 2000kg, with only 1500km and a heavy boot Im getting 10.5l/100km according to the trip computer atm.

Stoked!!

Matt.

Looks like a nice truck, even better with planned mods.
Never been in a Jeep, definatly a love or hate deal with people.
Would be great to have all the options in terms of aftermarket gear.

I was keen on one, but they did not make the Rubicon with the diesel engine!?

I think they are good value having looked at the one at West Side 4x4.

Yep Yarn, its the 2.8 VM Motori.

Jimmu the Rubicon is good with the lower trans case, the auto s/bar disconnects, elec difflocks and Dana 44 front axle, but alas no diesel.

There is an offroad pack that you can option any of the wranglers and you get Rear difflock and elec swaybar disconnects but I thought I would save my money and option it aftermarket. That way delivery was one week rather than 6 months.

Im thinking of just throwing a lokka in the front with JKS swaybar disconnects and see how that goes...like I said its not a hardcore offroader yet...going to be a touring rig for a while...maybe air lockers one day if I can justify the expense.

Hi Matt, I know the diesel would be pretty quick....I was talking about the V6 petrol auto, they are pretty gutless for a petrol.
