Bighorn 96 Fuel consumption

Postby Itstime » Mon Dec 24, 2018 9:04 am

Hi there,

Recently bought a 96 Bighorn with the 4JG2 engine. Fuel consumption 13 to 14l/100 km (town plus over land).

Is have a MU Wizard 4JG2 98 model. Uses only 11l/100 km. (This one is a bit lighter, I know.)

No accessories on the truck.

What is normal for the Bighorn
Cheers

Compared to the Wizard the bighorn has the aerodynamics of a shed so economy will be worse. 13 - 14 though would suggest injector problems or lead foot. Heavy vehicles all suffer badly if they cant keep a constant speed and on short trips. My Bighorn can manage 10l/100 on a trip but that was driving with a pet cat that wasnt happy with the procedings in the car. (shifting house the Christchurch) 13 - 14 is the figure I would quote for it but it is lifted and on 32 inch tyres

Thanks all for replying. Maybe injector cleaner can help a bit.

12.87 L per 100 km measured today, bit of a lead foot but not going crazy plus turned up 1/4 screw on the fuel so no too painful...
