i would cut and weld better mounts if it was me. wouldn't cost much.

Brand new and designed for the vehicle by a reputable company should be bolt on no mods required. They have sold you the wrong one take it back. Where did you buy it from?
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
