To blow a 60 amp fuse takes a big short. 3 most likely suspects are the glow plugs, the starter solinoid or the alternator.
could also be a wireing issue but this should be easy to see.
In anouther car I tried tracing an intermittent 30 amp short. Holding 2 terminals together to bypass a relay I welded the terminals to my fingers. Be careful tracing this one.

thanks geeves, stuck a 80 amp fuse in to check if it would start, dash lights still go on but engine will not turn over (fuse did not blow), then tried roll starting it as i was stuck in a shopping centre carpark, engine kicked over straight away, wen't and got the battery tested, all readings came back fine, turned the key off - won't start again but will roll start, am now going to be looking at the starter solinoid. will add post when done.

Run a hot wire to the starter solinoid and see if it turns over, if it does its not the solinoid make sure its out of gear first tho, I did that once and the damed thing started and took off with me hanging over the fender with my head under the hood, OH BOY.
I live in my own little world, but its OK they know me here.

Thats a major problem with diesels. On a petrol you can easily take the wire off the coil but its a fiddle to get the wire off a diesel pump. Even then a diesel might fire for a second or 2.

anyway checked the starter just before then came back to club isuzu, pig 75 was right on the money the back clamp where it bends up the 90 degrees had worn a hole thru the plastic shroud to the wire.

problem number 1 fixed thanks heaps guys now on to the power window switches
