EGR Removal

Getting the best performance from your Isuzu, the in's and out's

Can anyone comment on my above post?

My EGR blanking plates are on their way but I am reluctant to do it if it affects air-con, especially with summer hopefully around the corner (whats up with the rain in Sydney??).

It doesn't affect air con. Some people just fail to re-plumb the fast idle. If you don't re-plumb it, your idle will drop by around 100rpm while the aircon is switched on.

Thanks for your help!

Sorry if its a dumb question, but do the steps shown in the post include the "re-plumbing" of the fast idle?

I'm just gonna follow those steps but don't really know what is what.

No those steps don't allow for the fast idle sorry. If some one Lets me know just how the F.I. works I will add it to the information.

Idle dropping by 100rpm when air-con is on doesn't seem so bad?

If thats the worst of it I'm sure I can live with that.

There's a little dial on your dash. when turned clockwise, it raises your revs.

That's my way around it anyway :)

I Will look into the aircon idle up in the weekend and see if i can work it out for the people that want to keep it.

Also if anyone with an auto wants to have a snoop around there engine bay and see if the auto requires any vacum, can you let me know so I kan include that as well.

Thanks

Why not use a T section to plumb into a vac hose?
Cheers,
Andrew

I'm petty sure if you just plumbed it to a vac hose, the fast idle would be permanently actuated.

The EGR gear does regulate the way it works, I'm just not too sure how as I removed mine while the motor was out of the bay and did away with all of the gear.
I'm not too fussed about it dropping revs when the air con is on but if anyone ever works out how to plumb the fast idle back up and let's us know, then I'll fix it.

Ok, so thanks to Pig75 we've nutted out the idle up.
This is for a Mu - unsure if it looks the same in a bighorn/jackaroo/rodeo engine bay

There are a few solenoids up the back passenger side of the bay.. here you see a blue and white solenoid side by side.
The white one is for the air con idle up
You need a hose coming from the small tube on the back of the alternator/vac pump to the tube closest to the left hand guard and the other tube on the solenoid goes to your idle up actuator on your fuel pump

This is a picture I found in another thread which shows the idle up actuator. It is pointed out in the picture as "Block off?"
DO NOT BLOCK IT OFF

I also encountered a problem where my idle up actuator arm was adjusted too far away to strike the idle arm.
Here is how to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps others.

you block that before the solenoids, I think it comes from the alternate vac pump and supplies the vac to the egr solenoids

Both of those items are for the Quick Warm up System and have nothing to do with the EGR system

unless you want to retain the Air Con Idle up adjuster, this works from a solenoid on the passenger side to a little air ram just below the throttle cable

Use two nuts, and lock them together on the stud, Use a wrench on the inner nut and it will wind the stud out.
