hello, my cat converter has all most fallen out, just wondering if i can cut the exhaust off there just till i can get another? I was not sure if the motor/ turbo needed the back pressure?

lol opps, it right under the drivers side door in the exhaust and has a large spring inside. the other layer has rusted/fallen off.

Sounds like a flex joint
If you cut the exhaust there it will be very loud and Mr police will book you

yeah its loud now, just dont want the exhaust droping down while driving around. Just say i do cut it off there and weld a dump pipe on for now till i can get some more $$$$ to get my new exhaust will the motor/turbo be ok?
i must also say thanks to everybody for there help with the broken timeing belt, its all good now.

Is it the piece around 7 ?

yeah the one between 6 and 7. i will try and hunt one down. Still curious about the turbo needing the back pressure or not.

The less back pressure the better. Diesel's need to breath.

all turbos and diesels especially the less back pressure the better. Any effort needed to get rid of the exhaust is effort not available to compress the intake air. Also a free flowing exhaust gets rid of heat better
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

While your at it you should get a dump pipe and new exhaust made :-)
