can someone explain this to me a bit more please as have searched the forum but can understand what it does, or hinders the car doing etc

My mechanic said to not worry about it, but be nice to know what you guys think please.

petrol or diesel. In the short term it wont hurt but should be fixxed. Could affect power or ecconomy

its a diesel.
been using google quite a bit this evening on this. allot of recomendations with theses/rodeos that have the problems to remove and cleam with carb cleaner and then re-fit, normally works.....is this worth a go?

the egr valve to the right of the engine.
took it off this morning, quite sooted up. the plunger bit was v still to move, but when i had cleaned it, seemed to be be moving more freely.

time will tell i suppose ;-)

Are you allowed to ditch the EGR system in the UK?
Is this system linked to the engine management?

If you had a fault for the "exhaust emmision" could it be the O2 sensor (do they have them)?
I'm assuming that the car is still running ok?

no idea about ditching the egr valve and its requirements in the UK to be honest.
after taking it off and giving it a good clean, it so far seems to be ok. sure it will return but for now its ok.

anyone ever come across a squeaking form the engine for the first few minutes until its warmed up and then goes away? annoys the hell out of me, and have to jack the radio up a few bars. hate squeaks and rattles. although a 4x4 probably not the best car if you dont like rattles etc.lol

spray a little water on the fan belts. Bet this quietens them for a few seconds. If so a little dry lube on the belts will fix for a while
