Turbo rotation

G'day fellas

Looking for advice from some of you who have rotated the compressor housing on your 2.8 turbo.

The bolt at the bottom... the one that it just seems impossible to get to. How did you get to it? I have seen a few references here and on the old forum as to there being a trick to it, but for the life of me I can't work it out. I've just been tinkering with it as I need to do the intercooler install in one day, and can't afford to loose time getting caught up on a single bolt.

I'm aware that having the air con and associated piping still installed isn't going to make my job any easier, but is there anything I can remove to make it more accessible?

If anyone has any tips I'd be most grateful.

Cheers, Pat

Ok, had a look at that and it doesn't seem like it will help all that much. Its mainly that quick warmup device that's in the way, and the waste gate actuator bracket.

Is it safe to just pull the quick warm up device off and then force the bracket out of the way?

1) Remove the vacuum diaphram and linkage actuator from the quick warmup device (QWS).
2) Lockwire the exhaust butterfly in the open position (open is the position it would be in with vacuum to it).
3) Seal the vacuum hose that supplies this device (I just screwed a bolt into it).
4) Throw the actuator and diaphram in the bin.
5) Go back to your job of rotating the turbo housing. There is some sort of sealant used on the turbo housing, orange in colour on mine, I'm not sure if this is some special sort of sealant, you might want to look into it. I can't remember what I used.
