wouldnt start properly due to low compresion, wouldnt hold power on hills, had heaps of blowby and sump pressure pushing oil out the front and rear crank seals and dipstick tube etc.

i didnt realize how much lack of power it had untill now that its rebuilt, not pushing too hard yet but notice a huge difference on hills etc

its awsome having a truck that starts first pop hot or cold now 2

get some videos in a month or so, just taking it easyish for afew weeks first. all up i spent $2500, thats for all the parts pluss afew extra things.

would you be doing the work yourself? to get someone to do it you will be looking at over $5000 for parts and labour.

i was going to sell it after i rebuilt it but after the sweat and hours of work put into it, i couldnt bring myself to get rid of it.

How did you get the fuel pump timed
Or do You even need to time it?
I've put my timing belt on and that seems all good just not sure what to do about the fuel pump.

as long as the holes were the bolts go through are lined up on the camshaft and fuel pump pully and timing marks lined up on crankshaft pully you should be sweet

Thanks man so even if I turned the shaft of the actual fuel pump when it wasn't connected to the pulley it's all good along as the bolts go thru the pulley and into the alloy casing. When I was putting the timing belt on?
cheers, Josh

was the pully keyed soi it can only go on the shaft one position? if it is then yea it should be sweet if the bolt holes line up

hi guys, looks like i may have to do the rings on my bighorn as well - blow by is quite noticable, especially after an uphill drive. Can anyone tell me what are the essential parts required - eg rings, sleeves, etc and where you bought the parts from? Cheers

so can a 4jg2 be 180* out like petrol engine.
I have cam, crank & fuel pump lined up like in your pic,
but if you spin the crank 360* ,the cam & fuel pulley end up in a different position...

4 stroke motor. The crank does 2 revs for each one of the cam and pump.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
