4JB1T 93 rodeo TD engine problem!

Hi, My first post here so go easy on me.

Got a 93 rodeo TD trayback 4x4 and the engine is not starting. It will crank but reckon ther is no compression(previous ownwer reckons timing chain/gear broken) anyway started to rip apart . I have the rocker cover off and when crancking a lot of soot/smoke/fuel spray or whatever is coming up out of the valve pushrods, what can this be? head gasket blown(it comes out of all the pushrods so ??) rings totally rooted and pressurising the block??

Any links to manuals welcome! im flyiong blind here.
Any other things i should be looking at?

if its pushing fumes etc through the pushrod seals that suggests poorly seated,damaged/bent/broken valves and valve stem seals....

otherwise if its just venting at the wrong time you would be compressing with valves open if timing was out, not sure if these motors are "free running" or not meaning if the timing belt snaps theres a risk the piston could come up and hit the valve instantly rendering it ruined...

the only thing i juts realised is the 4jb1t is an overhead cam motor, it does not have pushrods... what exactly are you refering to when you say its sprays fumes out the "valve pushrods" ??

4jb1 is push rod. Only the 4jx1 and later are overhead cam
