Isuzu KB280DTLX vs Isuzu KB250LE

Need to acquire a year 2002 double cab and my choice is limited to Isuzu i.e either the 250 or 280 derivatives. i had a 1997 280dt and it was a good truck though noted it was weak on crankshaft seals and front suspension. would like to know fuel consumption figures for the kb250. on the 280dt i used to get around 15-17km/l doing 100km/h. did some research on the Hilux 3.0KZ-TE, seems owners are not happy with fuel consumption figures they are getting (8.5km/l). can anyone assist me in choosing better car in terms of reliability, performance and effficiency.

Essentially they are variants of the same engine. The 250 is newer design but nothing really changed. You get a better emmisions result but also a little less power. (not as much less as you would expect with the smaller motor) Chassis etc is the same. I doubt there would be a significant difference in ecconomy
Unless you have a lot of big hills I would go the 250 but the 280 will perform better on hills

Thanks Geeves, i finally settled for a 2002 Isuzu KB 280 DT LX. Happy with the performance, power and comfort. of late am hearing an underbody knock sound on my driver side footwall. the noise is as if something is knocking hard just under the footwall and is audible. the noise occurs when i make turns even at low speed. at high speed it occurs on sharp curves. the same noise occurs on bumpy roads. checked all suspension bolts and side excalliper bar all tight. what could this be?
