Oil leak possible causes 4jb1t isuzu mu

Postby morgan122 » Thu Sep 01, 2011 11:30 am

Having yet some more problems with my mu. has very large oil leak from drivers side ( exhaust) have steam cleaned and taken for a drive appears to be something up top have replaced rocker cover gasket recently but oil seems to be collecting around the water inlet hoses for the oil cooler. I thought it could potentially be a leaky oil filter or a cracked oil cooler leaning towards oil cooler as all the oil is orientated around one side of it. is there any ideas guys? any common problems ? cheers

frost plug would be water but there may be similar smaller plugs on oil galleries. Look for the easy stuff first ie turbo lines, alternator vacuum pump lines. Anouther possibility is oil seeping out of the inlet pipes but if this was creating the amount you suggest it would have other issues

turbo lines were spotless aswell as the alternator. im going to replace oil and filter tomorrow and go from there if its not that oil cooler is reasonably cheap so that will be the next idea after i have a really good steam clean and degrease again and have a really good look about

cheers for ure help guys really appreciate it

there is a frost plug/cap in the block that sits right behind the cam shaft wen i put my cam shaft in i must've pushed it in to hard and loosened the end cap, after we started it made a puddle so we rtv'd the cap in and it fixed the issue. its jus above the cooler

on the back of the block just above the oil cooler. this sounds strange to me as my cooler is mounted on the side of the engine just behind the turbo down pipe. But none the less things must be getting lost in translation is the plug hard to remove and replace with the engine still in the vehicle? cheers

Genuine Isuzu or if you can find one Sakura are most recommended. Ive been using Valvolene for over a decade with no issues.

they are fairly thin tinware but Ive never heard of one leak. Never heard of damage from a bellhousing bolt either. More commonly they fail internaly mixing water and oil.

hmm i hope it is ordered a replacement one but pressurised it with compressed air and couldnt see any leaks. also i pulled off rocker cover to check gasket of which ive recently replaced about a week or so ago it seems very flat already it was a cheapo from repco permiseal wondering if i should go genuine with that and eliminate that how severe can top end leaks get though asits not really pressurised
