There is heaps of info on the pump in a couple of other topics.
There's a search thing in the top right of the page.
As I can't remember where the topic is off the top of my head.

cleaning intercooler Take off and pour a litre of kerosene in Cover both ends and give it a good shake. Drain let dry and reinstal
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Yip thats the best way of doing it. It will start to fill up with blow by oil again unless you fit a oil catch can to the breather system.
