EGR blanking plates insallation

Postby andrewward0377 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 12:06 pm

hi I have encountered a problem while trying to install the blanking plates, the studs/bolts where the blanks should be fastened have the threads go half way so i am not able to fasten the nuts, can these studs/bolts be removed and replaced with fully threaded ones or can these be re threaded in place, thanks

What pig75 means is they screw out  use vise grips on them it will leave a thread in there which will now take bolts for your blank plates

yes thanks, but I was reluctant to get them out was afraid they would break on the inside, how easy are for them to twist out, would i need to heat them up or just use vise grips and turn ? thanks guys :-)

They should come out without too much fuss. Vicegrips or pipewrench should remove them. My preferred method is to use two nuts locked to each other on the exposed thread.
