Above the full line is very bad. It will leak out of several seals and burn lots till it reaches the right level. If you are unlucky the burning oil will gum up the rings and it will keep burning oil.
Never ever fill past the full line
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

The oil was done by a diesel place... they should have known better i guess.
