Postby andrewward0377 » Wed Dec 21, 2011 4:31 am

Hi guys I want to fit a K&N cone filter to my intake on my 2.8 4jbi TD, any suggestions on size of filter, diameter and stuff, how its done and any extra parts I need for a clean fix, thanks

2 ways.
1 Search here for other postst on k&N filters. There is a part number for a drop in filter that is easy peasy but pricy. My bighorn was done this way except I used a Unifilter instead of K&N
2 mounting a pod filter inside the airbox. Cheaper and allows you to use k&n clones so even cheaper again. You will need to mount an adapter to the lid of the airbox. My wizard is done this way

3 but not recommended Mount the pod straight on the pipework. Has been done before on road only vehicles and works ok but no way to seal off road. Also all the good books say you need a certan volume of air between the turbo and the filter

What jeeves said,
I had a cheap pod inside my airbox for a little while, drill holes through lid to match pod adapter ($5 from auto store) and find a pod short enough to fit in the box.

The direct replacement k&n is about $90-100 and is KN-2345

we obviously have different parts stores. Had to pay 30 for my adapter and another 25 on clearance for the filter
