you can use a 3.1 oil filter housing or tf 2.8 rodeo oil filter housing and you will fit a 2 1/2 inch exhaust on your mu, remote mounted you have to custom make it there are no bolt on kits

Fitted a VDO gauge today, does the same, reads over 60psi cold droppin to near nothing when hot. Reads about 25psi at 3000 hot. Running deli 15/40
Has done 200k on new bearings. Actual 200k not 200,000!

you are having bad luck with your truck, did you check oil pump clearances and relief spring when you did the engine rebuild?

Nah didn't open the pump as previously it read fine on the dash gauge.
I've driven it for a week before I put the gauge on so I don't think its going to die.
Only driven it once since fitting the gauge

Not taking the motor out again, just can't due to the time, logistics and winter coming, I have to work on it outside.

Was at speedway earlier when posting so on the way home I gave it a good run on the open road to really warm it up. 100k 2500rpm and 40ish psi.
In town at 50 1500ish rpm 20 psi

Just checked the manual, warning switch is set at 7 or less and relief valve at 82+ so maybe I think all will be ok.

Always planned to get another engine to rebuild with a few tweaks in mind, I do hope this one lasts until I can do that :?

diff oil viscosity is measured on a different scale and 85 is about the same as 30. Also the additives are very different. Engine oil gets very hot and gets lots of contamination and doesnt have to deal with the high loads found in diffs. Diff oil additives break down at 100C into nice corrosive acids and there is no detergent to absorb blowby contamination.

Which oil is best is always good for a livly disscussion.
Neither of my wagons are that high mileage but both of them get valvolene diesel extra every 5000 nowdays and I wont be changing unless I cant get it.
When I got the bighorn I started with castrol as it was cheap but then put a couple of sumpfulls of repco oil in it Big mistake! By 4000km hot oil pressure was almost 0 and it burnt 2 liters per 5000 and a cloud every time you open the oil filler. Then the warehouse got the Caltex Dello gold very cheap. Its good oil Pressure held to the end of the change interval oil consumption stopped as did crankcase fumes. After 3 sumpfulls it stated to leak in several places Not much but engine oil coming out of the bellhousing indicates a big bill in the future maybe. Changed to Valvolene and after a couple of changes the leaks stopped oil pressure is good but by the end of the oil is not quite as good as the new oil but close enough.
The Wizard when I got it a year ago had a little crankcase fuming and did use a half litre between changes. Given a diet of valvolene it has settled down nicely. Couldnt tell what leakage was like as the idiot I bought it off had checked the oil once and dropped the capp on the exhaust manifold burning a hole in it. Then he just put the cap back on and drove it till I bought it. All the oil has dried now. Both wagons are around the 200k mark.

Recently acquired yet another Isuzu KB250LE (4JA1 compensated) year 2000 with 155 000km on the gauge. the challenge i got is oil warning light flickering at idle (below 750rpm worsening at 500rpm and below). initially thought the problem would clear after oil and filter change but that did not assist. i use castrol magnatec 10w40 part synthetic. not sure what could be causing this? if there is need to change oil pump do i have to take out engine or its easily accessible by removing sump cover.

change the oil pressure sender first. I know that these things do fail and nearly every Nissan Patrol has a faulty sender causing exactly your symptoms. Most dont bother fixing but in your case its a new unusual problem so sender first. Prove with a guage second then worry about bearings pumps etc
