Isuzu Bighorn 3.2V6 Petrol...killer consumption

Postby LUNATIC4ISUZU » Fri Mar 09, 2012 7:05 pm

Hello guys
On my Bighorn i get a consumption of approximately 1litre for 5kms.is this normal for such an engine?i have it regularly serviced, recently passed the MOT inspection and abrand new catalytic converter installed but the consumption stays high.i replaced the air filter with an open mushroom one.the idle speed is about 850-900rpm/min.any ideas what i should be checking/do about the consumption?

Regards

Hey mate, I just got used to it haha. Mine uses around the same 5-6kms per litre. Mine is the same well serviced and maintained and there is no difference. I have been told that the Bighorn uses more gas than a 4.5L Petrol Toyota Landcruiser (80 Series)

lexus wont make much difference. Its still a 2 ton plus vehicle shaped like a shed which is where the economy goes. Every time you stop you have to get it going again so open road could be ok but round town shocking

replace the temp. sending unit,,if its not reading right then your engine will run a little rough and gas mileage will drop.its a problem i am getting ready to fix on mine.
