4jb1 Mu bellhousing bolt patterns and v8s

Postby nb422 » Wed Jul 30, 2014 5:57 pm

Hi guys. At work there is a 307 Chev v8 in a 1993 Mu mated up to the diesel factory auto. We have the engine out at the moment to do up and upon it's initial drive the auto was very slack for a v8 so the owner wants to mate a manual box to the engine. My question here is what is the bellhousing bolt pattern of the auto shared with? The factory auto is bolted directly to the engine with no adapter plate so need to find a box that shares this bellhousing pattern. We have a manual box from a 4jb1 but there is a different bolt pattern between auto and manual.

Any help is much appreciated,
Cheers. Jordan

depends what the mu was originally, there is only the 4jb1 or 4jg2 bellhousings(they are the same) and 2.6 petrol 4ze1 engine, could have some other gearbox modified to fit though

Its certed for the factory auto from a 93 4jb1 mu. And by the way the auto feels, and looks.. it seems like the factory one

sounds like the bellhousing has been modified. At a guess the comadoor v8 box should bolt up the mod the transfer case off the auto to fit
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
