Round and Square Bowl Piston

Postby MonkeyinGrease » Sat Sep 12, 2015 1:29 pm

Hi Everyone I'm new here :D
I have a question regarding the two styles of piston used in the Isuzu 4jb1t first is the square bowl (early pre 97) and second the Round bowl 97 on wards, I have been told their are no issue in using the round bowl piston in the early models engines :?: just like you're opinions on this.

Every motor Ive seen had round bowl pistons. The rodeo/ jackeroo though used what I believe to be the early engine till 10 years after the Japanese changed. The early engine had a gear drive and smaller oil filter. The later that is in all Mus and Bighorns from 88 onwards had the z402 filter and a belt drive to the cam. The heads are the same and flat so I cant see a potential problem
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
