3.1 bighorn custom radiator

Postby scruff123 » Sat Dec 05, 2009 6:01 pm

thinking of getting a bigger radiator, the one ive got is a single core aftermarket aluminium one and is not big enough. running a high performance 16 inch fan pulling and a 12inch pushing and it still overheats going up a decent hill :x , what do you think of this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=257554232 ? rekon it will have enough cooling capacity?

id be looking for a copper brass radiator over a ally one. as they cool better. what about a radiator out of a ubs55 big horn i think there 3core i do alot of towing and ive never had a problem with it getting hot at slow speeds on hills with standard fan and radiator.

ubs55 bighorn is a fair bit smaller than the ubs69 bighorn one. Why not refit a standard one with a recon on the side

Looking at your rig thread, I'd try making up a shroud on the engine side of the radiator and mounting the fan to that. It'll make the fan pull air through the whole radiator not just the centre...

the one ive got is one of these http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 460184.htm, the original one is a 2core but was stuffed and hard to find a good condition one second hand. what do you mean by a recon on the side??

tried a shroud and it helpd a little bit but the single core is not enough to cool the engine so it still overheated
