Turbo Oil

Postby LeKestral » Fri Sep 16, 2016 11:54 am

Hey all!

I'm just upgrading my turbo on my 4JB1t 92 Isuzu Mu
Just taken the intake pipe off and noticed a fair amount of oil inside the pipe and in the Turbo itself.

Is this a normal amount of oil or has a seal leaked?
The Intake manifold seems to have a bit of oil on the tubes so it must be blowing a bit through.
Not dripping though.
Any ideas?

Caused by engine blow by pushing oil into the intake. If oil consumption is minimal then this is normal

Whoa - Have the same problem, was sure it was my turbo but after the last few days of research this might be what it is ...turbo has no plal in it and seems fine, i don't blow any smoke out the exhaust... oil in the line from the intercooler to the pump actuator and oil all over the top of the diaphram when i pulled the cap off...
Going to get a catch can setup going ASAP, give it a good clean and see how it goes....

chances are that oil has taken 13 years to build up. If when the engine is running hot or cold and you open the oil filler and there is no more than minimal fumes the catch can isnt going to make a lot of difference. I dont use one but Ive only done 240k
