4jg1 info

Postby Powertruck95 » Wed Dec 21, 2016 6:43 pm

Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows what is involved in swapping out 4jg2 pistons for 4jg1?. from what i can gather they are pretty much identical apart from pistons being 10thou taller. Im toying with building a 4jg1 hotrod engine to replace my current 4jg2. Current setup makes 170whp 400nm on 20psi. Reason for going direct injected is for the better efficiency.

Also need to change the head. I believe the 4jb1 head will work You also need the 4jb1 injectors and playing with the injector pump. 4jb1 pump might be easier to tweak

Hey Geeves yes I have a 4JB1 head. Did some homework yesterday a friend of mine is a guru when it comes to Isuzu parts and he did a breakdown and found out that the 4jg1 shares the same head as the 4jb1 identical part numbers. The cranks are also identical.

I didnt look at your user name. You should know more about these than me. Someone else went through this exercise about 6 months ago and wrote it up on here but dont know who or exact date. Could be worth a search
