Fuel pressure regulator

Postby sprey » Tue Dec 15, 2009 3:53 pm

Right so the odd time ive gone to start up and its just cranked over for 3 or so seconds be actualy like getting fuel to start, then itl start, but if i start and it does the crank thing then i turn it off and go again itl start up right away, only seems to do it when warm. i think

Checked on my vehicross forum and seems to be the fuel pressure regulator, Or could be a cloggy fuel filter which ill probaly check out soon.

Went to repco today to buy a regulator they dont sell them so went to my mechanic and they contacted brendan foot holden who supply isuzu stuff, The price came back to be around 326 $ for the regulator which would have to be imported from the states,The price for it is pethetic considering its like bottle cap sized, even my mechanic was like yea right 326$ way over the top.. So yea kinda canned it off the list for parts that i was gonna change.

Tho might pull it out and give it a clean instead.

Wonder if theres a aftermarket one that is the same that i could buy instead. anyone know?

Lately ive had no problems with the start up but havent been driving that much.

heres an example pic of what the regulator looks like.- Not off my vehicle.

Did you guys get the V6 Rodeo/pickup over there, as this I would think would use the same regulator.

Yeap, bighorns wizards etc, your most likely right that theyl be the same.

Mine is still working fine just was gonna replace it regardless but yea after seeing the $326 price tag i soon took it off my list.

Im gonna have a wonder through supercheap auto's part list and see if i can find 1.

But most likely at this stage im gonna take mine out and give it a clean.

Father in laws BMW had a similar problem. It was a non return valve that was leaking fuel pressure back to the tank. Until he could get the replacement he had to turn the key to on then he could here the pump go. When the pump stopped due to correct pressure he could start the car.

Yea lucky for me 99% of the time it starts bang on just the odd time so yea im not too worried at the moment.

Once its warmed up ill wait to i hear the fuel pump stop and see what it does rather than sometimes just turning it straight on.

This was mainly after it had been sitting a while. If warm it normaly went ok.
