Jumping Tacho 4JB1t

Hey all. Having some problems recently with my 95 Rodeo tachometer jumping allover the place.

I understand there is the sensor in the front of the pump but before i go changing that or pulling the dash out, I was wondering if anyone has had this same problem and could point me in the right direction to save some time. Thanks

My last 2 tachos have done this... im sure one of those others would have better suggestions but if you dont want to replace the cluster, you could replace components on there (capacitors etc) or disconnect it and clean it up with electro clean... both of mine developed Parkinsons after 200k...

I had a similar problem that got progressively worse until the needle stopped moving completely. It turned out to be a loose earth connection on the wiring harness just behind the wiper fluid bottle.

Hi all

I have the same issue with my '93 MU. Tachometer would sometimes work perfectly, other times it would fluctuate by +-500rpm and other times it would just be dead :-( Lately it is more dead that alive. Pump sender is 100%.
Any other suggestions out there as to where to start looking for the fault?
