A/C delete pulley

Postby polyarkos » Wed Apr 11, 2018 12:11 pm

Hi All,

I want to remove the A/C compressor from my 4jg2 (doesn't work anyway) and I'm trying to source the Idler pulley (???). Apparently it comes of a TF Rodeo.

Could someone post the parts needed or even a picture so I know what I'm looking for.

TIA,

JP

Hi I'm doing the same to mine, I think its quite hard to find the pulley you're after but they are just a 4inch or so pulley with mount.
What you can do is cut some of your tensioner bracket and run 1 power steering belt its size 30. Can't run 2 belts as the inner one will rub crank. I think that's why people prefer the pulley?

pulleys are easy to get if you dont mind paying for them, lots around off gear driven 4jb1-t tf rodeos 97-01 model and 4ja1 engines

Don't mind paying for them, I'd just like to see/know what I'm asking for.

HI,
On the 4jb1-t you can run a shorter single belt on the front of the pulley down directly to the crank pulley if you want to eliminate the A/C. The adjustment bolt and it’s bracket needs to be taken off for the belt to run direct to the crank. Put slightly shorter bolts in front two holes that go through that bracket to make up for the removal of it and you can probably run both belts (I just spaced them up and used one belt). From what I can see the geometry and brackets look the same on the 4jg2. The belt size to get was an A44 or equivalent from memory. You can remove the AC bracket and free up space this way too. Worth a try on the 4jg2, it will only cost you a belt

Cheers
Paul
