4jb1t Chain driven vs Belt driven

Postby Miles » Fri Aug 24, 2018 8:56 am

I have a 1989 Isuzu bighorn with a belt driven 4jb1t and was wondering if the chain driven 4jb1t out of the rodeos are as economical and as bullet proof as the old school belt driven 4jb1t. I am wanting to engine swap mine as when I bought it I didn't do as well as a check as I thought. I think the main bearings are shot and can find a chain drive 4jb1t for quite cheap. I quite like the idea of a chain driven motor but was wondering if they were as reliable as the belt driven.

Gear driven is just as reliable, turbos are smaller and make abit less power also they are a far noisier engine caused from the gears chattering
