4JG2 cracked cylinder head. Replacement part?

Postby LiveEvil1 » Mon Dec 24, 2018 5:11 am

Greetings,
cylinder head cracked on my 4JG2-TC. I am in Malta, so access to parts is quite limited. I was quoted 2.2k euro for an original from Isuzu. While aliexpress has some for 150-250 bucks a piece.
I checked Autodoc and managed to find a replacement from FAI auto BCH038 ( http://catalogue.faiauto.com/parts/BCH038# ) which I hope should be better than an unknown version from Aliexpress. Also a very helpful person from UK suggested Milner off-road and they had a head with delivery to Malta : https://www.milneroffroad.com/isuzu/tro ... -head-bare . My mechanic suggests getting one which is an original isuzu even if used. I would not mind getting a used one but NOONE has original cylinder heads on their own, only whole engine together (as i think cylinder head is the primary victim either due to age or overheating).

If someone replaced head on 4JG2 could you please share which part they used and where did they obtain it?
I would appreciate if you could share your experience on the matter.
Thanks.

Ive heard of milner before and they seem to be your best bet for parts. Consensus down this way is that the chinese heads are at least as good as original and with some research you would find the same head as miliner on aliexpress but probably no cheaper. The problem with aliexpress is you often dont know what your getting. You might get perfection plus for $100 or a head made of casting slag for $500.
Get the miliner one
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Thanks geeves,
I am inclined to go with milner as they seems to specialize in off-road ( so I hope they did their homework when selecting which part to stock) and their total price with delivery to Malta will be about the same as Aliexpress (price + delivery + import taxes + random luck factor).
