4JG2 - What's this line??

Postby jegru » Thu Aug 27, 2020 8:00 pm

Probably a silly question, but can someone please tell me what this line if coming off the intercooler? Where does it go to at the other end (I can't seem to follow it), and does it matter if there's oil in it? I'd like to clean it out or replace it but not sure where the other end is!

Thanks for your help :)

Mine goes to the diesel injector pump compensation. if there is oil in there it could be excessive blow by or the turbo beginning to spurt oil into the intake.

That goes to the boost compensator on the pump. Oil will be blow by oil that has built up over the years. You can take the intercooler off and clean it with kerosene and dry thoroughly before refitting but Im not conviced it makes a difference to how it runs
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Great, thanks very much for your help. Have already cleaned the rest of the excess oil so will probably just leave it then.
