It hasnt even had a ball joint flip or sway bar removal. Unless there is something we cant see there is nothing wrong with the truck but you really broke that cv. To do that much damage it cant of been original.

Has anyone ever tried putting a sleeve over the original CV to try and strengthen it?
Might have to go to a bigger CV boot but that's probably no big deal.

Not heard of this on Isuzu but you might be on to something. Live axle Prados and Surfs have the same cv but the break on surfs. Prados have a band round the cv but this wont fit in the surf housing. Rumour has it that they are the same outer cv as the isuzu but this is unconfirmed

Well went out for a drive today and yet another cv breakage yes it was another after market cv but still i should not have broke as i was was not hill climbing just on the flat in a little bit of soft sand in 1st gear at 2800 rpm and snap . so after breaking 5 cv's it is going up for sale . Very unimpressed with isuzu .

No not very unimpressed with aftermarket parts!
I would love to know who makes the originals as they are the only cv joints I trust. The current cv on my right side was bought full of sand and with only 20 deg movments. A good clean, new boots and its gone fine although it clicks badly. Its done this for 3 years. People that know me will tell you that I drive my bighorn like it was stolen. My bighorn shares the same suspension as your Mu. Ive just bought a spare just in case.
Another tale of woe I have seen with after market parts was an ORC brand free wheel hub. Driver couldnt drive straight across a flat grass paddock without one breaking. After breaking 3 he demanded his money back but they refused saying it must be his driving. Blowing a cv in convoy cant be bad driving.

if it keeps breaking cv's on one side only im guessing u might have a slightly longer axle outta a ubs69 big horn on that side since its longer but same spline. itll bottom out in th cv cup earlyer and put more strain on the outter cv then BANG

BUSHPIG have you ever brocken cv's on your bighorn ? both sides have been breaking cv's but today it was the side that didnt have the genuine cv. so im going to track down another genuine 1 tomorrow fit it then go and give it death to see it that breaks . fingers crossed it doesnt but if it does ill be ripping the rear diff out and replacing it with another one from a 2.8 mu . i tracked down the previos owner today and asked him if he had done a diff change and he had he said he put a diff head out of a auto bighorn .any chance the ratio could be different between the 2 ? im unsure if it was a 3.1 bighorn or 2.8 i know diff ratio for the mu should be 4.55 is there any where on the rear diff that you can see numbers that supprt the ratio ? cheers for all the help.

You could jack up all 4 wheels put it in 4wd and the main stick in neutral then mark the bottom of the wheels then turn all the wheels one turn (might need 4 people if you don't have a LSD in the back) if all the marks end up at the same place the ratios should be the same. If the front does a full turn and the rear turns more than a full turn then the ratios are different

All manual 2.8 MU are 4.55, never seen a diff from an auto but I'm sure they are 4.55 as well.
