lift on the cheap?

Postby Captcol » Wed Mar 17, 2010 6:06 am

I have been doing some reading and I am unsure what applies to the wizard so here come the questions.

body lift - cheap - increases wheel travel or size possibilities?

Ball joint flip - 50mm ground clearance on the front? hard to do? additional parts required?

over diff leaf conversion - not sure it applies to my truck (96 wizard - can't remember the diff config) - increase chasis clearance but not diff? difficulty? - doesn't increase diff clearance

and finally I have seen a little about trans and engine lifts to improve ground clearance - does anyone have info on this?

I apoligise if obvious answers are already around here, I have searched and read alot but am unsure of how or if it can be applied to the wizard - I will climb under it tonight (truck is at home) which might answer some of my questions.

Body Lift is just to allow biger tyres and a bit more clearence for the biger tyres. verry easy to do

Ball joint doesnt lift the truck at all its just to help correct the camber angles when you wind up the torshion bars

Spring Over Axle requires a bit of work but if your a good welder and know your stuff no worrys

Early wizards are leaf. I think 98 was when coils came out.Spring over axle gives 100 - 150 mm lift and is hard to certify. Cheaper and easier to just fit lifted springs and or shackles for the back and adjust torrsion bars and ball joint flip on the front.
for 50mm this is all you need
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
