The wheel alignment is sorted, apparently the last guy who did it got majorly carried away with the shims, took them just over 2 hours to sort, still have to take it back to get the steering wheel sorted.

My problem is that the guards are rubbing on the back of the wheel when i turn the wheel now where near full lock. I am unsure if lifted another 10mm at the front will make a huge difference but then under compression it will rub again.

What have you guys done, I was thinking of grabbing a pipe, jacking up the wheel and trying to bend the guards out a bit. Any other ideas?

you could try to bend them but most people cut them, i wouldnt jack it up as you will lose allot of upward wheel travel, i just let mine rub and take it easy

Cheers, to start with i couldn't even back out of a car park. Got it a bit better now though.

I have got the gear selector sorted so it really is only the tire rub to sort.

I run 33" tyres on my Wizard. I 4wd and found the rubbing is related to the rim offset. I run a standard Wizard offset, +7mm from memory, the same as IFS Hilux. I have also trimmed the front guards.

From this

To do this
- take the plastic trim off,
- work out where the centre of the circle of the arc is,
- offset this 40mm to the rear and draw a new arc (I used a felt pen and a piece of string),
- I offset this 15-20mm and drew another arc, this is the one you cut to (this 15-20mm becomes the atachment for the plastic trim,
- bend the 15-20mm at right angles, reattach trim.

Alternatively, find some Mu guards of the correct colour and install them. They are different. They have a larger buldge at the wheels. All the guys I know with Mus on 33" tyres haven't had to cut their guards. They don't however have the plastic trim.

I've PM'ed you my contact details if you want to talk through it.

that looks pretty much like what the panel beater did, how did you go at the a pillar end, he was worried about the sill extending under the guard bit

It is still under there. There is about 30mm of metal under the bottom of the trim. Most stuff moves if the wheel hits it or a big hammer.

I used the EFS springs and shocks and I am really happy with on and off road performance, the only problem I have is the rub on the fronts under compression, but that is more due to the size of the tires. This thread http://www.clubisuzu.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1699 shows the difference between standard and with the shocks, tires and body lift. The suspension lift is nice and easy, I also did the ball joint flip.

nope, radiator needed to be lowered, I got the seat belt retaining whoofahs extended and the gear stick linages needed adjusting and I took a nick out of the 4wd selector boot to get it into 4 low range. brake and fuel were sweet.

I had problems with the angles on the lower radiator hose which is why I lowered mine in the end

Yea my tyres still rub slightly on my wizard when the wheels are at the right angle and when the wheel is pushed up into the guard, i have also taken the grinder to the rear of the gaurds as well. Putting on a winch bar soon so im not lokoing foward to how much the front will drop due to the weight. would tougher tortion bars combat that? or some calmini bits?

If you still have room you can wind the torsions further, unless they have sagged too much then replace with new units, the heavy duty units are apparently very hard
