Correct suspension hight for wizard

Postby geeves » Sun Oct 30, 2011 3:02 pm

Im sure this has been on here before but cant find it.
Has a previous owner lifted my wizard?
Measuring from the center of the hub to the guard is 520mm.
It looks to be sitting high but is this normal?

Dont the front shafts sit horizontal at factory setting? (Went through this when we bought the rodeo as we thought it was a bit low)

My thoughts as well. The diff is higher than the hub. If it is lifted then its less work to do when the Bighorn snuffs it but more importantly if it has been lifted it gives the insurance co an out if I prang it unless I tell them its lifted

Isn't there a measurement between the bottom suspension arm and the bump stop? Something like 17mm?
I've seen it somewhere before. I'll have a look when I get time.

I could be wrong but measurement a looks to be from the cross member to the ground so if you arent running stock tyres at factory pressure your measurement would be out of wack Was the 17mm from someone who has done the measure up on a stock one?

There is a 15mm clearance between the bottom control arm and bump stop when you refit the control arm. That is so the bottom bushes are clamped in the correct position

ok I get 200 and 310 so z = 110 According to that its sagged 20mm but the cv joints are higher at the diff than the axle and the tyres dont fill the guards very well Even my 31x10.5x15s look small in those guards. Add to that that my trolley jack which happily lifts the bighorn on 32s so the tyre is an inch off the ground wont lift the wizard on 245x70x16 which is about 28 inches without running out of travel. This is from the recommended jacking point

Can anyone with a stock coil sprung wizard please measure from the hub center to the top of the guard. Please

I got 520 at both ends. Maybe it is standard
At the moment Its the road car as the bighorn is still the toy so no lift in the immediate future although I thing the rear is a little soft and it would be silly to buy harder std springs now and similar lifted springs in a few years
