Usually lifting blocks, made from ally i think, other way is probly not legal and that is heaps of nylon chopping boards gluded together then use a hole saw to cut your blocks out.
Cheers,
Andrew

Next cheapest will be extened shackles. But this puts extra strain on mounts.

NEXT cheapest is lifted leaf springs. This is the best way to lift the back of the MU without going into changing suspension design e.g. coils etc.

For front, just need to crank torsion bars up, and get an alignment. Depending how high (3" is usually limit), ball joint flip may be required.

Any of these lifts will probably require certification/engineering, but not sure on Aus regulations.

Most of Aussi has banned extended shakles so your stuck with after market springs or a body lift. The body lift blocks can be made of Alloy but are expensive. The normal material is high density polyethylene which can be bought as pre made blocks or 50mm thick sheet or 65mm diameter rod. Cut to size and drill holes and away you go.
This type of polyethylene is magic stuff. Its chemically the same as milk bottles and chopping boards but can be made into uncrushable blocks or some of the strongest least stretchy rope ever seen ie synthetic which rope

The bolcks will be fine for the cab, its the same blocks for every make of vechile, just the length varies depending on how much lift you want, and the hole sizes maybe different. They may work fine on your tray too, depends on how its mounted.
Oh how i miss my mu, the lux is just not the same :(

I used polythene rod for the cab and 4mm wall box section for the tray

And I thought that I was dodgy :D

I have a rodeo wellside with a body lift I used umpwe rod for the cab and 4mmwall box section steel for the tray. Check the bolt sizes on the tray before you start back right? is different

Why did you use steel box on the tray? The UMPWE is probably as strong

I've seen a couple done using normal blocks for cab, and box section for tray. Don't know why...

The easy way to lift a mu is to just use a forklift/crane or jack :D

I would have had to buy another rod when I had the box already and when I cut 1 to try the box with a flat side out looked tidier than a round block

I'm preparing for a 2" body lift as well, just have to find the time. This is the list I've got;
• Front bumper off before starting
• Seatbelt retention bars removed and lengthened
• Release firewall clipped lines
• Loosen fuel filler hose clamp
• Loosen steering shaft from firewall to steering box & steering wheel
• Loosen all body mount bolts, remove only one side
• Jack up the side of body with bolts removed & insert blocks on top of rubber mounts
• Insert new bolts loosely to this side
• Remove bolts of other side
• Jack up second side & insert blocks on top of rubber mounts
• Insert new bolts loosely
• Clutch master cylinder has had to be moved in the past
• Check fuel filler & tighten clamp
• Check breather hoses
• Check handbrake cable from firewall not stretched too tight
• Check clutch hose not stretched too tight
• Check brake lines aren’t stretched too tight
• Gear levers will foul, rubber boot creates issues, need to bend/cut & weld
• Tighten bolts
• Radiator ideally needs to be dropped to match body lift, or electric fans installed.
• Go through in reverse and reattach everything & tighten things up

Andy.

2" lift for Rodeo crew cab (petrol manual) with well deck with a little help from dasnoboarders list Some of the things on his list arent here because they didnt apply/werent an issue
Before starting check your bolt sizes cab is 10mm and tray is 12 with one of the rear tray bolts being different length None of the bolts srew into the bodywork (I understand that the rear ones on a mu do) I used fine thread with nylocks

The body

Remove bumper
Remove fan shroud
Remove the cab to chassis saftey straps (under where the seatbelts bolt to the cab floor)
Loosen body mount bolts
Jack up one side of the body -2 sissor jacks on big blocks are good as they slot into the sill. watch the wiring loom from the cab to the chassis under the drivers door area as I had to undo a couple of clips
Insert blocks on top of rubbers
Loosely insert mount bolts on that side
Repeat for otherside
Check brake lines, wiring and hoses etc arnt streched (mine were all good)
Tighten bolts
You will now have the issue of your fan shroud not fitting - an option is to cut the bottom out or replace your fan with electric ones (I threw mine away it was stuffed) You will also find in a manual that you cant use 2nd 4th or reverse and low ratio either the levers have to be reshaped or an engine and gearbox lift done (which I have done and would also make the fan shroud line up You will also have to reshape or make new saftey straps -there is also one between the cab and tray to watch for when you are lifting it doesnt have to be removed

The Tray
Remove mounting bolts (mine were welded to the front cross member of the tray)
lift (again watch your wiring loom) and insert spacers - I used box section for the tray with a blank side out
Fuel filler had plenty of slack in the hose
Bolt up and youre good to go and get certified

Check Trademe. I've seen someone advertising the parts needed to do a body lift and also the labour. About $400 from memory.
