Size rear shocks 1993 2.8td Mu

Postby rcolijn » Sun Dec 27, 2009 5:49 pm

Hi guys,

Just pulled me rear shocks out, apparently they can not be rusted through lol.

Does anyone know what the standard height rear shocks are (extended and compressed)?

Having a bit of trouble convincing the 4wd drive shop that Jackaroo shocks do fit (unless I wm wrong off course).

It is Jackaroo '90 isn't it?

Thanks for your advice.

ps, fitted me second hand Rancho 9000 shoscks and they are sweet on road, does anyone have experience with them, and on what setting in what circumstance?????

Heading down to vic and Mallacoota (from Goulburn) soon woohooo!!!

Just measured the stock shocks on my 90 MU
Front 250mm compressed & 375mm extended
Rear 335mm compressed & 560mm extende

My 91 MU has rancho 5008 rear and 5019 front they don’t make the 5019 any more. so use the 5029
the book lengths are
Front 5029 24.44 compressed 36.19 extended
Rear 5008 34.92mm compressed 57.15mm extended

Thanks mate, gives me some stuff to work with.

So I pulled miner out and ther are rotten, I'll need to replace them. As it happens I have some new Ranchos laying arround from a Frontera, I laid them next to each otrher and extended they are about 6cm shorter then the ones I am replacing.

As a stop gap measure, would that work?

I'll replace them with the proper ones later, however if I put them in the car it would only limit my flex wouldn't it, nothing else would be out of sorts / break.

I just wanna go 4wding!!!!

OK, I installed them with a bit of trouble, had to make a bush cause the hole was to large, but all in all its in.

Went for a ride and all looks ok to me, did some major bumps on speed and all looks fine to me.

Of for me holiday now!, Talbingo, Snowies, Corryjong, Melbourne, Mallacoota and back to Goulburn, is anyone sees a blue Mu flying passed, thats me!!!

See yas!
