A few years agom there was a mid 90's Bighorn sitting on a yard in Nelson that was on 40's with custom suspension right through and masive body lift. It sat on the yard for ages then disapaired and the next tinme I saw it it was at a wreckers

Im looking at going to 33's on my Rodeo eventually
already have the 15x8 rims with the -25 or so offset
in the 33's im going to get a 33x10.5 tyre
BFG make one, this looks like it will solve most of the problems with scrubbing on the bullbar mounts and the width of the tyre sticking out too far, no need for a different size rim then either!

35's are going to cause you issues. 33'sx12.5x15 can be a squeeze to fit, with some bashing of the guards down by the sill and also by the bumper.2 inch body lift may not be high enough, not too mention how many cv's you will break

Someone else on here runs 35's and i dont think they have to many probs. i cant remember who it is just now. I interested to see how they go and how much work is needed to fit them in the guards.

Take lots of photos if you can.

Just dragging this back up.....

Trying to work out what rims and tyres I should get for my MU.
It will have a 30mm lift, and it looks like a 2" body lift is also on the cards.

15" rims I think will be the go, but trying to work out the offset.... I'd like 33"s but after reading this thread It seems some say they will fit, and others say no. So whats the deal? With my mods is it a maybe? and I will have some rubbing on the extremes of travel/turning? Also not keen on the busting c/vs thing..... I assume a diff drop will help sort that?

any assistance in offset and tyre size would be greatly appreciated!!

sorry for the slow reply.
i had 33's on my mu with just a 2 inch suspension lift wih no problems.
i used 15X8 -24 offset rims
i then put 50mm wheel spacers on and it started to scrub, so i put in a 50mm body lift then once again no scrubbing

i then brought 35's they scrubed hard with the spacers i ended up cutting a fair bit of guard out.

i have now got the 35" muddies fitting under the front of my mu with a 1 and a bit inch suspension lift and a 2inch body lift and no wheel spacers.

had to cut the bullbar mount a little bit but thats not really big job.

i have broken one cv in the last 3 years. tho i drive fairly sensible.
cheers, Josh

The tyres if certed will be on the cert paper work sent away to the LTSA. Tell your wof guy t check the file with the LTSA
You should have a copy sent to you with the plate anyway, if not ask whoever did the cert to get it to you ASAP.

My cert plate has the tyre size on it as 31/10.5/15 and thats what is on it every wof day. 5 years and they have hardly worn at all. Interestingly those tyres never caused an issue at wof time before cert even though they are an inch wider and 3 inches taller than factory

Never had anyone ask for cert for the 32x 11.5 mts mind you no one seemed to notice the 2inch body lift engine and gearbox lift or the extended shackles Makes a bit of a mockery of the cert rules eh?

Problem is if you have a crash esspecialy if serious injuries are involved. Police go over the car with a fine tooth comb and let your insurance company know what they find. Insurance company forgets they ever had a policy with you police give you lots of paper with something about a judge and jail on it and you get a nice restfull holiday at club med rangipo.
For non north islanders rangipo prison has a nice close view of todays erruption

There is no actual rule of tyre size in the VIRM to my knowledge, it is only about rims and tyre speed ratings, and the track as stated above, the only thing they could fail it on is incorrect speedo reading causing it to be unsafe but they would have to prove it, will check and comfirm tomorrow

Not correct, the rules around tyres have tightened up a lot lately and there is now criteria about correct size for rims etc

Track cant be increased by 25mm, and tyre size no bigger than 5% of OE but who would know what they come out factory with anyway
