Wheels

Postby Skiffy » Sun Mar 14, 2010 7:55 pm

whats the widest wheels possible on a 1990 Isuzu MU?
just for ideas sake the the offset is 0
I'm looking at some 16" X 10.8" alloys. Don't know the offset
or should i just go the usual with the 15" X 8" sunraysia?

Thanks

Why go wide. 15x8 will handle a 32x11.5 inch tyre better than a 15x10 At 33x12.5 inches they are about the same. Above this and you are looking at lots of work to make things work ok.
If you are going the low profile way then its just for looks as low profile tyres are no good off road

I have got my self a set of 5 steelies. Made in china jobbies... I was wondering if anyone knows if its possable to make these into beadlock rims? If so who does them and what sort of cost is involved??

Thanks.

P.S. Prefer work done in ChCh.

You would have to ask your local tyre shops who could send them away. For on road they need to be done a certain way by an engineer certified to do them and the car needs to be certified to use them on the road. I know Howat Engineering in Wellington does them but if you were buying the rims anyway its better to buy premade

Those are the rims I have got now but they are 0 offset. perfect for MU. 5 for $200 looks like a great deal. :).

Thanks geeves I will ask my tyre place and see what they say.

Elite wheels do them. why do you want beadlock rims anyways? the outside bead has them but the inside one does not. if your going to be running low pressure internal beadlocks are the ideal way then you hav both beads locked and wont pop a bead.

thats my thoughts

Internal beedlocks as far as I know dont need cert but best check this with your friendly certifier. Only catch is you have to drill a second hole in your rim and they cost about 1200 a set

And internal won't work with tyre monitors in side the tyres.

The rims have a huge bead seat on the inside and a small seat on the outside so a bit more help holding on would be good for low presure wheeling.

Thanks mud I go see them.
