if your exhaust houseing is in good nic still just get a subaru rs legacy 87-91 turbo. it has to be the vf8 turbo as the center and compreser side fit into a standard 2.8 exhaust houseing. if you use a vf8 (CHEEP AS) ull get the same power as running 15psi on 10psi so when turned up it goes even better. oh if you do this mod put a intercooler on at the same time if you havent already. this is the next engine mod my bighorns getting.

so this turbo will bolt staight onto my manafold? and do i have to install an intercooler straight away or will it be fine to run with out one? and is there any other little things i would have to modify?
also would i buy i new one or get it from the wreckers??

you get them from a wreckers, no they dont go straight onto your manifold different exhaust housing design thats why you need to use your old exhaust housing with the vf8 center and compresser side to make a(hybrid turbo) part isuzu and part subaru.
there will be a slight mod to intake pipe to fit bigger turbo

being a biger turbo it will be putting more thermal load on your engine so i wouldnt fit one with out the intercooler. but you probly could get away with no intercooler(not recomended)

So this is a literally unbolt the exhaust housing from the vf8 and bolt directly up the the current exhaust housing?
This may be a real dumb thing to ask but a vf8 off a wrx (what the auction says) would be the same?

I'm interested in doing this as i'm getting a bit of white smoke off mine.

There are some options on trademe at the moment but i'm not sure what to look for or what the going rate is
any help would be appreciated.

yes the vf8 center will bolt into your isuzu exhaust houseing. the one that ive used for a customers car was a early rs legacy vf8 87-90. if they are the same vf8 as the wrx it will work not shure if the wrx one is the same tho as i was told by alltech that the early rs legacy one was the one to use so thats what i did. hope this helps

its the vf8 center cartradge and compresser housing that bolts into the standard isuzu exhaust housing.

ill be selling hybrid turbos for isuzus in the next few months im just trying to get my hands on as many vf8 turbos as poss at the moment.

turbos will be $350 exchange with your working turbo (useing a cleaned checked vf8 in good working order)

or $750 for a complet rebuilt hybrid vf8/isuzu with all new seals, bearing, balanced ect. with exchange of your working turbo

($300 for cleaned checked hybrid turbo
or $650 for club isuzu members only)
