MU windscreen removal

Postby daone » Wed May 26, 2010 11:08 am

HI all

Can anyone send me a instruction about how to remove/frfit the windscreen on a 91 MU 4jb1t please?
Found some air bubbles on each bottom corners, thinking that may be caused by rust. May do a rust repair.

Appreciate your time thanks :D

If the rust is going to be fixed by a panel beater let them do the lot. If the screen breaks they fix. They generally get the experts in that will pop the window and reinstall in less than an hour. It will take you 3 or 4 hours and a dictionary of new words. More if you break the screen

snap on (and maybe some cheaper brands) make a tool for windscreen removal. if you can get hold of one they are the easiest way to remove a windscreen.. its like a stanley /razor blabe with a 90 degree bend in it. with a big handle.
first .. put old blanket over bonnet so not to damage bonnet. using the tool slowly cut around the top and sides of the windscreen.. slowly work your way to bottom.
cut bottom and carefully push from inside to remove..
this part is best done with 2 people.... be careful try to not use too much pressure... dont fight the glue.. cut it again if needed as old windsrceens dont like being taken out..
when refit.. put glue on both surfaces . on the car and on the glass.. then fit. is messy but is best for making cure.. citrasolve is best for glue removal if you get it on paintwork or hands.
good luck..
pics of the rust would be good... i have only had rust on the trim around the wiper blades..not frame of windscreen.
