Most solid axle swaps are done with hilux diffs but a few have used Nissan patrol Either way its a major engineering exercise.

Would be interesting to get figures from these people. It's a great read but I think the involved costs are required to give people a realistic idea as tO whether this is realistic in their price range..

Just looking at the pictures should be enough to put off all but the people with good engineering expertise. If you are paying someone it is going to cost more than the car is worth.

There are reasons to do solid axle conversions that are quite valid but people have to remember these are serious modifications so whether to proceed is not to be looked at lightly.
If you remember Muvit Madnesses truck you will know what can be achieved but remember hes was and still is doing extreme tracks so had a use for a vehicle that could set records on the ramp index and still be road driven. Even doing his own fabrication etc he still spent very serious money. If I wanted the same thing I would have to pay someone and it would cost as much as a house.
Im not saying dont do it. Im saying be very sure you want to do it before you start

yea i agree with what your saying mate. for the cost of doing it purely to have a solid axle front it's mre than it would cost to just upgrade to another 4wd that already has solid axle... i guess my initial interests were all aimed at achieving more lift, having almost reached the maximum potential both with tyres, body and suspension lift. however i suppose modifying a body lift higher would still be simpler and cheaper than solid axle...

yea thats what i'd love to do. get a wrangler and drop the 4jb1 into it! although wranglers arent quite as unique as the mu in terms of looks i do love them and there potential is possibly somewhat greater, however wranglers are seriously expensive for a car that would then get a motor transplant and numerous other work done, bit outa budget for me at the moment :(

hmm they are certainly cheaper and cool but its the guard shape that i love about the wranglers, and the suzuki's r a bit smaller than the jeeps too, which is a problem as the wrangler is already smaller than the mu for a passenger, camping gear and a dog. lol.
