Cheers,

I've been working on the transfer case adapter over the weekend so I'll post some more pics when it's on, just need to get a transmission jack as I cannot lift the transfer case when I'm laying on my back to get in in... :)

Was the plate off the stripped gearbox basically the back of the gearbox cut off? and I take it that the gearbox was the original zu? This is what I did with a landie years ago except instead of an adaptor we put in a uni joint and a second crossmember (geeves would call it a rangi truck) Thanks and good luck

Thats not rangi but common practise. Suzukis come that way in the box and its a common way of fitting a hilux transfer case behind the factory transfer case giveing an extra low set of gears

ImageIt was when you consider that we jammed a cortina motor and box in there and the adapter was the rear of the landie gearbox with the last gear cog on the output shaft welded on and then ground down to a resonably flat face then the diff end of a drive shaft welded to that so that the 2 were connected by a drive shaft with no shaft just a uni joint. Believe it or not it worked :o

Yeah thanks guys, I've been working on the gearbox mounts/crossmember at the moment, had to grind off the original plates as the bolts were all rusted in and the plate was too rusty for my liking (spots where the chassis never got any rust protection), so made new ones of them and welded it. I have to be able to move the MU in a few weeks, bought a house which has a bigger garage :) , so need to be able to get it on the trailer without the box falling out...

Ok gearbox mount done...

Tacked in place

I made the mounts originally for the engine but got some Mackay mounts cheap so they were left over, they are made from rear shackle rubbers.

Installed pic from the front.
