Custom make them from plywood and then paint or glue some felt to it, thats what i did for my other car.

I would use MDF rather than ply. Ply has a tendency to split and separate

MDF (customwood) swells and changes to goop when submerged. I would use tanalised or hardwood ply and glue all the joins. Carpet or special acoustic felt on the inside
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Do you mean boxes for subwoofers or kick panels.
you can get cheap sub boxes these days all pre made with or without sub from a locol auto accessory shop or car sound specialist?

I have always been told good ones are made from MDF, I forgot why it is better though. My rear shelf is made from ply and that houses my 6x9's and it seems to got alright

Ply is made in layers and can separate with flexing. MDF is matted together so is less likely to separate it is also more acoustical than ply. If you want to waterproof MDF a coat of fiberglass resin will stop the water 8-)

600watt sony amp http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158ZZR3301 ... tml?tp=115,

try to install two 5-1/4" polk audio in the kick panels http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DB521/P ... tml?tp=105 and

i already have two 4" pioneer's in the dash that came with the truck http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSG1042 ... tab=review.

but i have went to the local shop but they wanted $65 per box the box that i have in my other vehicle was only $65 and its 1 dual 10" box. i for one thinks its crazy i mean im thinking about doing all the work now right down to building the box and cutting a hole in my kick panel

Making a box in itself is easy, it is far more difficult to get it the right dimensions and max the sound dispersal.

Where is the bass module going to be located? If you can tell me I may be able to provide you with plans that will alow you to make a box along the line of the Klipsch folded horn box which will allow you to actually increase the bass wave and produce really great bass unlike those simple boxes that simply angle the speakers and don't allow enough cubic capacity to enable the necessary pressure to produce the accurate response. In fact some of the boxes actually inhibit or cut down on the speaker's ability to function correctly and degrade the bass you get out of it.

I ahve built many custom boxes, especially for 4X4's so you max the sound but don't take up the whole area/ Also a large box is a serious temptation for thieves so if it can be made to look as if it is just part of the vehicle then they won't notice it much.

Let me know, and if you want please give me specifics as well as the measurements in inches please if you can. Such as available space, how wide you can handle it being and height. I have made quite a few that were low profile and slot loaded but had the same cubic capacity as full size Klipsch Horns if you have heard those for bass response. Other speakers using that are Tannoy, Celestians, Dalquist, Gale, Altec Lansings and a couple of JBL theater types.
